CHAIN OF HEARTS
Ceropegia radicans subsp. smithii is a member of the Asclepiadaceae family is from Southern Africa ranging from Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana.
Some of the common names are String of Hearts and Chain of Hearts. It is a rarer form C. radicans.
This is a delicate vine that has heart shaped leaves. The stems can grow to around 2 metres bearing small bell-shaped pink flowers in clusters.
It was said to be traditionally used for medicinal purposes to help treat digestive issues.

It has also become a popular ornamental plant where it is grown indoors as well as outdoors in warmer climates with its beautiful appearance.
It likes bright light but indirect sunlight.

WHITE SKY FLOWER

The Thunbergia grandiflora alba is a member of the Acanthaceae family and is native to India.
This White Bengal clock vine is a cousin of the blue variety and this variety is very hard to find. It starts flowering in spring and continues throughout the summer.
It is an evergreen vine and is covered with beautiful 75mm wide soft white flowers that are cup-like funnels with either pale yellow or cream stripes down the center.
This vine is also known as White Sky Vine, it is salt and frost tolerant to 0 degrees C. It looks great on a pergola as a screen

Piper betle is a member of the Piperaceae family and is native to Southeast Asia India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
It is a climbing shrub and is trained on poles or trellis in a hot but shady situation.
The chief constituent of the leaves is a volatile oil varying in the leaves from different countries and known as Betel oil.
This Betel plant is also used as a herb for wrapping food for Thai snacks, wrapping fish for grilling and the leaves are chopped for curries and seafood for a nice aroma.
It likes partial sun or shade grows to 900mm to 3 metres in container with a support method. It is vining in habit.

Hoya wibergiae is a member of the Apocynaceae family and originates from Palawan Philippines.
This is a vigorous Hoya that has showy yellowish flowers with a red centre and 15 – 20 flowers in each umbel. The leaves are a mid-green with grey spot on a veined leaf.
It likes full sun to partial shade for the best growing conditions.
INDOORS: Most Hoya are well suited to hanging baskets or ladders and can be grown indoors under pot culture in a warm position, but flowering is sometimes difficult.

SOILS: The vine will enjoy most soil types but prefers well drained gravelly soils, moist but not wet, warm but frost free above 4 degrees.

PLANTING: Dig the hole twice the size of the pot and plant level with the surrounding soil. Mounding can help with wetter soils.

Petrea volubilis alba is a member of the Verbenaceae family.

This is a rare form of Petrea volubilis with masses of pre white flowers in spring, summer and autumn.
It will require a trellis or other form of structure to climb up on.

It is slightly drought tolerant attracts birds, butterflies and bees.

It is evergreen with rough sandpaper like leaves. It prefers full sun and possible light shade.
Average well drained soils would be best with average watering.

ssp. MASSEY RIVER

Hoya macgillivrayii ssp. Massey River is native to the north Queensland Australia and is a member of the Apocynaceae family.

This is one of the largest of all the Hoya flowers being up to 70mm across each flower and up to 14 flowers in each umbel. The flowers are red-deep pink with a white centre.
It can be grown in a sheltered, semi-shaded position in warm humid area and can be trained against a wall or framework. In colder areas it can be grown as a glasshouse plant or as a container plant. A cylindrical wire frame around which the vine can be twined is effective.
Prune after flowering but don’t cut off flower buds as flowers appear each year on the same bud. Fertilise during growing period and withdraw water in the colder months.

ssp. NESBITT RIVER

Hoya macgillivrayi ssp. Nesbit River is a member of the Apocynaceae family and is a native of Australia Nesbit River area.
Hoya macgillivrayi is a fast-growing vine native to northeastern Australia that was first discovered in Queensland in the McIlwraith and Tozer Range.
The flowers of the plant are approximately 60 mm in diameter and vary slightly in size, shape, and colour from each cultivar.

They come in umbels of 6 to 10 flowers that are each connected at a central axis. Each flower is a dark burgundy colour with five sepals and five petals. The stamen is enclosed in the corona.

ssp. SUPERBA

Hoya macgillivrayii ssp. Superba is a member of the Apocynaceae family and a native of Australia.
This is one of the best Hoyas with big flowers that are about 75 mm in diameter and up to 10 in an umbel. They are dark pink – red and fragrant at night.
The leaves are large reaching 80mm long and 50mm wide, dark and glossy green. It is a really fast-growing Hoya with cupped flowers a bit like Hoya megalaster it originates from Cape York.

                                                                                MADAME GALEN
Campsis x tagliabuana is a member of the Bignoniaceae family.
It is a hybrid is a cross between Campsis grandiflora and Campsis radicans. It has the large flower size of Campsis grandiflora and the hardiness of Campsis radicans.
It has orange flowers with a red throat and they appear in the summer months. The brilliant salmon-orange trumpet shaped flowers up to about 70 mm long, in clusters of 6–12 flowers.
This vine looks tropically exotic but it is in fact grown extensively in temperate climates – the leaves will be frost-bitten at 0ºC, but the plant will not usually die off until the temperature falls to –15ºC.
This vine climbs vigorously, to a height of up to about 10 metres with aerial roots and will spread to 3 or 4 metres. Vines should be grown on sturdy structures that will be able to support the rather heavy weight of mature plants.
The flowers are very attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Average water needs, likes full sun but will do well with a little shade.

Parthenocissus henryana is a member of the Vitaceae family and is a native of China.
This is a Fast-growing climber with green tri-lobbed leaves turning a deep red, orange and purple in the cooler months before they are falling.
It climbs by tendrils therefore it won’t damage the structure it’s covering.
It covers an area from around 4–10 metres and does best in full sun but will adapt well to semi shade.
It also prefers well drained soils and is frost tolerant.
