Description
DAHLIA IMPERIALIS
TREE DAHLIA
Dahlia imperialis is a member of the Asteraceae family and is a native of Mexico, Central America and Colombia.
Although a reasonably well known plant the tree Dahlia is not offered for sale we thought let’s have a go but we needed to sell while small in order to be able to send by mail, so let’s see what happens.
The beautiful butterfly attracting Dahlia can reach heights from 3 metres to 5 metres and flowers in Queensland around April / May.
It requires full sun but can stand some light shade for the best flowering. It likes well drained moisture retentive soil
Annual maintenance consists only of watering deeply once a week (maybe twice if it’s particularly hot) and cutting plants to the ground when frost kills the top in autumn.
ENJOY!
