Iochroma coccinea is a member of the Solanaceae family and is a native of South America.

The Iochromas are sometimes called mini Angel Trumpets and are a very useful garden species. They grow to around 2 metres and depending on conditions can flower for most of the year.

It can be pruned vigorously to shape and are used as topiaries in landscaping. It is bird and bee attracting.

Iochroma coccinea have brilliant red trumpet shaped flowers in terminal clusters that are flared at the extremities.

Care needs to be taken as it is poisonous being in the Brugmansia family.
