PODRANEA RICASOLIANA
PORT ST. JOHN CREEPER or PINK TRUMPET VINE
Podranea ricasoliana is a member of the Bignoniaceae family and native to Southern Africa.
It grows to around 6 metres or very nice when kept as shrub to 1.5 metres. When used as a vine it will need to be given support or grown over a trellis or as a standard.
The vine has large trusses of rich pink trumpet flowers with deeper pink/red striations in the throat. After flowering it can be pruned hard to 50mm from the main stem.
It prefers full sun but will do well in semi shade and it like most soil types and is evergreen but does not like extended periods of really cold conditions.
