Dombeya calantha is native to South Africa and is a member of the Sterculiaceae family.

This shrub will enjoy most soil types but prefers well drained moisture retentive soil. When planting dig the hole twice the size of the pot and plant level with the surrounding soil. Water in well till new growth appears. Prune after flowering to tidy up spent flowers and twiggy growth. Fertilise after pruning and mulch well to conserve water and keep the roots cool.
